Two nutrigold awards for Benecol

Last April, the 13th National Practical Nutrition Conference was held at the Ilustre Colegio de Médicos in Madrid. The participants at the meeting (mostly medical doctors) voted for Kaiku's Benecol both as the MOST INNOVATIVE product and as that which engaged in the BEST NUTRITIONAL COMMUNICATION campaign during the conference. As a result, Sonia Lázaro, director of the National Practical Nutrition Conference, and José Ramón Zárate, deputy director of Diario Médico, gave the two Nutrigold Awards to representatives from Kaiku in an award ceremony held last May.

The Nutrigold Awards were established with the aim of acknowledging the commitment of food and agriculture companies and organisations to public health and nutrition. Every year, the awards are given to the most innovative product and that carrying out the best nutritional communication campaign. This year was the first time in the 14-year history of the awards that both accolades were awarded to the same product.

KAIKU Wins the Award for Innovation

The managing director, Xabier Aristi, shared with the board members of Kaiku Corporation (Kaiku Corporación), Kaiku Co-operative (Cooperativa Kaiku) and their team of workers “an award of which all of us who form part of Kaiku, here and in Latin America, feel very proud”.

After thanking the organizers of the Award – EiTB (Basque Radio Television) and Caja Laboral Savings Bank – and the contributing partners – Business Strategy (Estrategia Empresarial), Five Days (Cinco Días) and The Business Gazette (La Gaceta de los Negocios) – Mr. Aristi defined innovating in the competitive dairy sector as something which one does to survive.

"We're going in for new products; innovating in logistics, production and trading relations.  But we wouldn't be here if we hadn't thoroughly reviewed each and every one of the firm's processes."

At Kaiku, the new products are “only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to our innovation process”.  And people.  “Without a doubt, the key's to be found in people; in constantly questing for new opportunities and in projecting non-conformity – breaking out of the box – as a way of life”.

Innovation at Kaiku is “a state of mind, and awards like this one fill us with the strength to forge ahead”.  Without a doubt, a great award to celebrate and share with everyone.

Kaiku Choco Latte wins the Grand Prix for Innovation

Kaiku Choco Latte was chosen as Product of the Year by a panel of consumers in recognition of its innovative qualities.

"Product of the Year" – the Grand Prix for Innovation organized by Sotto Tempo – is an open competition for product innovation, in which products from the most important firms are judged by a panel of consumers from the "Access Panel©", comprising 6,500 households, built up by the Spanish firm TNS for the purpose of streamlining the conducting of surveys.

For Eli Garavilla, Kaiku Choco Latte Product Manager, the prize "indicates consumers' approval of the product for its quality and innovative format".

The care that goes into preparing Kaiku Choco Latte gives it an extraordinary flavour and a delicate and unmistakeable cocoa aroma.

To help the growing number of people who are to some degree intolerant of lactose, and all those who wish to enjoy digesting milk easily and pleasantly, KAIKU presented the first and only lactose-free dairy preparation on the market: Lactose-Free Plus.

Thanks to this pioneering step in research and development, Lactose-Free Plus received the INNOVAL Award 2006 in the Dairy Class. The Innoval Awards, from the International Innovative Food Fair 2006, gave recognition to efforts made by manufacturers in the design, development and launching on the national market of innovative products during the previous two-year periods.
